Patrimony – the first pictures
July 1, 2008
I have been bending wire to shape the coat of arms, that I then wrap with red threads. The choice of colour was a toss up between white or gold, but red stood out in a way that met my criteria best.
I realised as I formed the shapes and placed them in the areas that they belonged, that using red embroidery thread to wrap the wire would mean that I would be slowed down considerably if I did not have a good technique to keep the thread even over the wire framing.
The embroidery thread worked perfectly, and I found that the less I tried for perfection, the more interesting the material became. This week I shall be assembling the piece, and working on all of the little details to bring the work together.
